BYD electric car trio: convenient to buy, pleasant to “raise”
With a potential and open automobile market like Vietnam, the emergence of more and more new energy vehicle brands (NEVs) has created a vibrant and competitive atmosphere for “sellers, buyers”. In the countless streams of debate about this new counterweight, the topic of owning and owning an electric car has always attracted a lot of discussion from users.
In the middle of July, BYD Auto Vietnam officially launched 3 electric car models including BYD SEAL, BYD ATTO 3 and BYD DOLPHIN, along with many after-sales policies, promising to bring an attractive competition in the NEVs market share. These three models are also inadvertently the “topic” for the forum: how is the “top” electric car technology and how much does it cost to “raise” a cheap electric car?
BYD’s trilogy: upholding technology and experience quality
BYD’s flagship model – the SEAL sedan is distributed with 2 versions, Advanced and Performance, the listed price is 1,119 billion VND and 1,359 billion VND, respectively. With a sporty design, this model won the iF Design Award. The car is inspired by the combination of images when moving and when the ocean is still, suitable for customers who appreciate the feeling of driving speed, integrating breakthrough technology.
BYD SEAL can be considered a “rich” model in terms of comfort and performance. The Advanced version is equipped with a powerful electric motor of 201 horsepower, maximum torque of 310 Nm, combined with rear-wheel drive for the ability to accelerate to 100 km/h from a stationary position in about 7.5 seconds.
With the Performance version, the BYD SEAL engine is powerful at 530 horsepower and provides a maximum torque of up to 670 Nm. Combined with a full-time 4-wheel drive system, this electric sedan can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds. The performance level of BYD SEAL Performance is similar, even higher than some supercars and sports cars with more expensive prices. According to the company’s announcement, the BYD SEAL can operate on a maximum distance of 520 km on a full charge.
Meanwhile, the BYD ATTO 3 high-chassis model is a technologically rich and versatile choice, suitable for both traveling in crowded cities and roads. This is also the reason why BYD ATTO 3 has received a lot of attention from Vietnamese customers. The car is announced at a listed price of 766 million VND for the Dynamic version and 886 million VND for the Premium version.
The BYD ATTO 3 is equipped with a powerful 201 hp electric motor with a maximum torque of 310 Nm. Combined with a 49.92 kWh or 60.48 kWh Blade battery pack, the car can operate on a maximum distance of 410 km or 480 km on a full charge, depending on the version.
Among the 3 models that BYD brings to the Vietnamese market, BYD DOLPHIN is the most accessible model with a list price of 659 million VND. The car has a hatchback design with a sophisticated, flexible design, neat size, creating flexibility when moving in the city.
The set of 3 introduced by BYD at the brand launch event made a mark by modern technologies that bring a good experience to users
All three models use BYD’s proprietary e-Platform 3.0 platform, which increases operational efficiency. In addition, these models are also equipped with durable and safe Blade batteries, which is BYD’s battery technology achievement – a “weapon” that many competitors dream of owning.
‘Farming’ electric cars is no longer a difficult problem
All 3 models introduced by BYD in Vietnam are pure electric cars, more or less requiring changes in user habits as well as corresponding charging station infrastructure requirements. Therefore, BYD immediately implemented strategies to meet this demand of customers quickly and thoroughly.
The car company not only applies a competitive price policy, but also offers many attractive promotions, such as free charging devices and incentives to install chargers at home when buying BYD SEAL, BYD ATTO 3 and BYD DOLPHIN models, including 1 2.2 kW mobile charger, 1 7 kW wall charger and free home installation support, 1 V2L power adapter turns the car into a “mobile charging station”.
BYD applies a free charger and free installation at home for the convenience of customers to charge their vehicles
With a 2.2 kW portable charger, users can easily plug in the charger anywhere on the go in case they can’t find a nearby public charging station or BYD dealer. Meanwhile, with a wall-mounted charger, charging at home has become more convenient than ever, just plug in the charger overnight and the battery pack on the car is fully charged.
For gasoline cars, manufacturers usually apply a warranty of 5 years or 150,000 km and recommend maintenance every 5,000 km, the cost ranges from nearly 1,000,000 to more than 3,000,000 VND depending on the level of maintenance. Large maintenance level, that is, when the car has traveled over 50,000 km, will cost more, up to tens of millions of VND. Meanwhile, with a long warranty period, and low maintenance items of electric vehicles in general, BYD’s models prove to be much more “economical”.
Try to do a realistic calculation of the cost of raising an electric car with a gasoline car. On average, the fuel consumption of a gasoline car will be about 7L/100 km. The current gasoline price is 22,600 VND. So for every 1 km, a gasoline car will cost about 1,600 VND.
As for the BYD ATTO 3 model with a 60 kWh battery, the amount to fully charge the battery from 0-100% is nearly 190,000 VND. With a distance of 480 km on a full charge, the car only costs about 400 VND/km.
For example, the BYD ATTO 3, customers only cost about 400 VND per kilometer traveled
Not only is it supported by companies to own a car, but the cost of “raising” an electric car is also completely “easier to breathe” for the majority of Vietnamese people – when the problem of living costs after the pandemic is always of special concern. In particular, with after-sales policies and incentives from BYD, the electric car market will have more comparative problems for consumers to optimize their budgets, increase the rate of using NEVs, contributing to promoting this market in Vietnam to be more diverse and competitive.
